Which photographers influenced you and how did they influence your thinking?

Actually I got into photography through filmmaking. I started off doing smaller films but I have always been inspired by photographers. I try to film as if I would take a photo and the other way around. But it is still two different approaches. With a film it is easier to tell a story but a photography leaves much more room for inspiration and guessing.

I don't have any big names that helped me develop a certain look. I love the work by Susi Sie from berlin and i am really impressed by the photography of Francesco Zizola. He has a real talent of giving certain moments the real importance they deserve. You should go and see his work!

Among your works, which one is your favorite?

Really hard to say as I would say I am my hardest critic. I really loved working in Africa for three months on a film project called beyond documenting the west African coast and their connection to the sea. I think it is going to be a great movie! I am really curious as it is coming out later this year.

Apart of that I recently fell in love with filming anamorphic and I am completely obsessed. :)

So hopefully there will be a bigger project using my recently gathered new skills.

Biggest achievement as a photographer?

With the cold water surf movie "headache" I won several awards in Europe. But actually the biggest personal achievement is that I am able to travel the world, make a living from it, experience moments that I will hopefully never forget again and make friend that last for a lifetime.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Same same. That I can do what I love!!! It gives me so much motivation for everything i do.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

To always question what you do and how you do it. But not in a negative way. Looking forward.
